ERP Systems

Open source and free-tier ERPs covering accounting, inventory, sales, HR, and manufacturing in one platform.

An ERP earns its keep when you'd otherwise stitch together accounting, CRM, HR, inventory, and POS — the integration tax of running five SaaS tools is usually higher than running one ERP. If you only need one or two of those, prefer the dedicated category page.

All-in-one OSS ERPs

  • ERPNext (on Frappe) — the most polished OSS ERP in 2026; accounting, CRM, HR, manufacturing, POS, projects, helpdesk, all sharing one DB. GPLv3. Free self-host or paid Frappe Cloud. The default modern OSS ERP pick for SMBs and mid-market.
  • Odoo Community — huge module ecosystem; accounting / CRM / inventory / manufacturing / ecommerce. LGPLv3 core but most "good" modules are in Odoo Enterprise (paid). Free self-host with caveats; community modules from OCA fill many gaps.
  • Dolibarr — PHP / MySQL; lightweight; great for European SMBs (strong VAT support); GPLv3. Lower ceiling than ERPNext / Odoo but easier to host.
  • Tryton — Python; modular; descended from old TinyERP / pre-Odoo fork; GPLv3. Niche but clean architecture.
  • iDempiere — Java; enterprise-flavored; descended from Compiere / Adempiere; GPLv2. Heavyweight.
  • Apache OFBiz — Java; very long-running; flexible but dated UX; Apache 2.0.
  • Metasfresh — fork of ADempiere; modernized UI; GPLv2.

Vertical / lighter alternatives

  • Frappe (the framework under ERPNext) — build your own ERP-flavored app on top; pairs with Frappe HR, Frappe CRM, Frappe Helpdesk separately.
  • Akaunting — accounting-only; see Accounting.
  • Bagisto — Laravel-based ecommerce-flavored "ERP-lite"; mostly catalog + orders.

Hosted with free or generous tiers

  • Odoo Online — first app free for unlimited users; second app onwards is paid per user.
  • Zoho One — bundled suite (CRM, Books, People, Inventory, etc.); free tiers per-product but One is paid.
  • NetSuite, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365 — enterprise incumbents; no free tier; expensive.

Pick this if…

  • Default modern OSS ERP, SMB to mid-market: ERPNext.
  • You need the broadest module ecosystem and accept paying for premium ones: Odoo.
  • Small European SMB, straightforward needs: Dolibarr.
  • Only need one slice (just accounting / just CRM / just HR): skip the ERP and use the dedicated category.
  • Enterprise, regulated, willing to pay seven figures: NetSuite or SAP — outside this site's scope.
