Game Tracking, Wishlists & Price Alerts

Backloggd, HowLongToBeat, IsThereAnyDeal, GG.deals, Exophase — track what you played, what you'll buy, and when it's cheap.

The "Letterboxd / Goodreads but for games" layer plus price tracking. For per-store stats / Steam-specific dashboards see SteamDB & Steam stats. For RetroAchievements (achievement layer over emulators) see Achievements / RetroAchievements. For DRM-free stores and subscription services see DRM-free stores & subscriptions.

The 2024–26 reality: Backloggd has won the social-tracking race (Letterboxd-for-games), IsThereAnyDeal is the de facto price tracker, HowLongToBeat is the canonical "is this game 8 hours or 80?" answer, and Exophase has become the cross-platform achievement tracker most enthusiasts default to.

Social game tracking

  • Backloggd — free; web. The "Letterboxd for games." Log plays, rate, review, follow friends, year-in-review. Massive 2024-26 growth; the default social tracker.
  • GG App — free + paid; iOS/Android. Native-app-shape tracker; aesthetic.
  • Grouvee — free; web. Older tracker, smaller audience post-Backloggd surge.
  • HLTB collections (HowLongToBeat) — free; tracking layer on top of HLTB. Less social than Backloggd.
  • IGDB — free; the Twitch-owned game database; powers many third-party trackers.
  • Trackt for games (TBA / niche) — niche.

How long is this game?

  • ★ ★ HowLongToBeat — free; web + apps. Community-submitted "Main Story / Main + Extras / Completionist" hours. The canonical answer to "is this a weekend or a month?"
  • MetaCritic / OpenCritic — free; review aggregators. OpenCritic has overtaken MetaCritic in critic-aggregation credibility for many enthusiasts; both useful.

Wishlists & price tracking

  • ★ ★ IsThereAnyDeal (ITAD) — free; web + browser extension. Tracks pricing across Steam, GOG, Epic, Humble, GMG, Fanatical, etc. Wishlist with email / RSS / Discord alerts on sale thresholds. Region-aware. The default.
  • GG.deals — free; web + extension. Similar; broader key-store coverage including grey-market keystores (which can be flagged or hidden in settings). UI some prefer.
  • CheapShark — free API; powers a lot of community price-checker tools.
  • SteamDB price history — see SteamDB & Steam stats; per-Steam-game price history.

Achievement tracking

  • Exophase — free; web. Cross-platform achievement aggregator: PSN, Xbox, Steam, Retro (RetroAchievements), GOG. Free; most enthusiasts pick this for cross-platform.
  • TrueAchievements — free + paid; web; Xbox / Game Pass community. Excellent Xbox-specific completion tracking and "TrueAchievement points" weighted by rarity.
  • TrueTrophies — free + paid; PlayStation equivalent of TrueAchievements (same company).
  • Astats / SteamCompletionist / completionist.me — free; Steam-completion-percentage trackers.
  • RetroAchievements — see Achievements / RetroAchievements; achievement layer for emulated retro games.

Library / play-history

  • Steam Charts (steamcharts.com) — free; player-count history per Steam game.
  • PlayTracker — free + paid; cross-platform play-history tracker.
  • PSNProfiles — free; PSN-specific.
  • Trueachievements / TrueTrophies above — overlaps.
  • Steam250 — free; "best Steam games by user score" curated lists.
