Laser Project & Pattern Libraries

Free and paid project files, vector libraries, and box generators for laser cutting — Glowforge Catalog, xTool Creative Space, MakerWorld, Etsy SVG.

The laser equivalent of Model Libraries for 3D printing — places to download SVG / DXF / AI / RD project files, and parametric box / enclosure / puzzle generators. The 2026 landscape is fragmented: vendor-locked catalogs (Glowforge / xTool), open SVG marketplaces (Etsy, Creative Fabrica), and FOSS parametric generators (Boxes.py, MakerCase). For artwork-source apps see Design Vector Apps.

FOSS parametric box / enclosure generators

  • Boxes.py — open source (GPLv3); the dominant parametric generator. ~150 box / hinge / drawer / Tupperware-clone / case / shelf templates with kerf compensation, finger-joints, T-slots. Web-runnable + CLI. The single most-used FOSS laser tool.
  • MakerCase — free, browser; finger-joint, T-slot, and rabbet boxes with kerf compensation. SVG/DXF export. The "I just need a box" answer.
  • Festi — open source; legacy parametric; mostly superseded by Boxes.py.
  • Inkscape Tabbed Box extension — built into Inkscape; quick parametric box.
  • Living-hinge generators (Lasergist, MakeABox.io) — flexible hinge / kerf-bend pattern generators.

Vendor / proprietary catalogs (project files locked to ecosystem)

  • Glowforge Catalog — closed, paid (~$10–$30 per design); curated Glowforge-only files. Bundled with Premium subscription. Locked to Glowforge.
  • xTool Creative Space community projects — free + paid xTool-specific files. Some shareable as .xcs outside the ecosystem.
  • OneLaser Project Library — OneLaser's curated project hub.
  • Bambu Lab MakerWorld (laser section, 2025+) — emerging; same MakerWorld platform now hosting laser project files for the H2D.

Open SVG / DXF marketplaces

  • Etsy — paid (~$2–$10 per design); the de-facto bazaar for laser SVG/DXF. Quality variable; commercial-use license per shop.
  • Creative Fabrica — paid subscription (~$8/mo); large vector + SVG library; commercial license bundled.
  • Design Bundles — paid; bulk SVG packs.
  • The Hungry Jpeg / SVGCuts — paid; long-running marketplaces.
  • Cricut Design Space community files — free + paid; designed for Cricut but most SVGs work for laser.

Free SVG / DXF sources

  • DXF Project / DXFforCNC.com — free; community-shared CNC + laser DXF files.
  • 3axis.co — free SVG / DXF / CDR; vast catalog of free laser-ready files (license varies, often unclear).
  • FreeSVG.org — free; CC0 public-domain SVG library.
  • OpenClipart — free, public domain; SVG library.
  • Vecteezy — free + paid; vector library; mostly SVG.
  • Thingiverse / Printables (laser tag) — free; community-shared SVGs alongside 3D print files.
  • The Noun Project — free + paid; icon library; SVG export.

Specialty pattern generators

  • Inkscape Pattern Along Path / Tile Clones — built-in; for tessellated / repeated patterns.
  • GeoGebra + Inkscape export — for parametric geometric / sacred-geometry patterns.
  • Spirograph / Guilloché generators — community web tools.
  • Voronoi / Delaunay generators (e.g., voronator.com) — for organic mesh patterns.
  • Live-hinge generator (Obrary / community) — kerf-bending wood SVG generators.

Project-specific generators

  • Lasergist Box Maker / Festi-style finger-joint box — task-specific generators.
  • PuzzleMaker (jigsaw-style) — generators for jigsaw puzzles.
  • DXFTool / Gear generators (Inkscape gear extension) — SVG gears, sprockets, pulleys.
  • OpenSCAD / Cadquery — see Programmatic CAD; used to generate parametric SVG cuts via DXF export.

Map / topo / artistic generators

  • Snazzy Maps + Inkscape — turn map data into laser-cut topographies.
  • MapTiler / OpenStreetMap → DXF — community pipelines for laser-cut city maps.
  • NASA topographic data → laser-stack topos — community maker projects.
  • TopoLayer / TopoGen.io — paid; topographical line-extraction.

Pick this if…

  • Default "I want a box": MakerCase (browser) or Boxes.py (any complex case).
  • Glowforge owner: the Glowforge Catalog (you're locked in).
  • xTool ecosystem: Creative Space + MakerWorld H2D section.
  • Selling laser products commercially: Creative Fabrica or Etsy with explicit commercial licenses.
  • Free, public-domain SVG: OpenClipart + FreeSVG.org.
  • Parametric geometric patterns: Inkscape extensions + Boxes.py.
