Klipper & Printer Web UIs

Host-side web interfaces for Klipper, Marlin, and OctoPrint — Mainsail, Fluidd, OctoPrint.

The "host" is the SBC (usually a Pi 4/5, CB1, or similar) running next to your printer. It exposes a web UI for upload, slicing handoff, control, macros, and monitoring. The 2026 split: Klipper users pick Mainsail or Fluidd; Marlin users pick OctoPrint; everyone increasingly adds OctoEverywhere or Obico for remote access.

Klipper front-ends (talk to Moonraker)

  • Mainsail — open source (GPL); the most polished Klipper UI. Vue-based, gorgeous, full macro/console/file/timelapse support. Default in MainsailOS and most pre-baked images.
  • Fluidd — open source (GPL); the other major Klipper UI. Slightly more compact, also Vue-based; many people prefer its layout. Functionally near-identical to Mainsail.
  • KlipperScreen — open source; full-screen touchscreen UI for printers with a small attached display. Pairs alongside Mainsail/Fluidd.

The Klipper API layer

  • Moonraker — open source (GPL); the API server that sits between Klipper and any web UI. Required by Mainsail/Fluidd. Exposes WebSocket + REST, handles update management, history, timelapse, webcam config.
  • Moonraker-Telegram-Bot, Moonraker-Discord — push notifications + remote commands via chat.

OctoPrint family

  • OctoPrint — open source (AGPL); the original network UI for printers. Best plugin ecosystem of anything in 3D printing. Works with any printer that speaks G-code over serial. Officially recommends not running it directly attached to a Bambu / Prusa MK4 (telemetry conflicts).
  • OctoPrint Plugin Repository — 600+ plugins: bed leveling visualizers, cost trackers, slack notifications, filament sensors, etc. The main reason people stick with OctoPrint over Klipper UIs.
  • OctoPi — Raspberry Pi image with OctoPrint pre-installed.

Remote access (the hard problem)

  • OctoEverywhere — closed source (free tier, paid Pro); zero-config remote access tunnel for OctoPrint, Mainsail, and Fluidd. AI failure detection in paid tier. Hands-down the easiest "view my printer from anywhere".
  • Obico — open source server (AGPL), free hosted tier or self-host; remote access + AI fail detection (formerly The Spaghetti Detective).
  • Tailscale / WireGuard — DIY VPN approach; free, FOSS, no third-party tunnel needed. The privacy-conscious pick.
  • Cloudflare Tunnel — free, no port forwarding; pair with auth.

See Print Farm Management for fleet UIs.

Vendor / proprietary host UIs

  • Prusa Connect / PrusaLink — Prusa's first-party remote/local UI. Free; locked to Prusa hardware.
  • Bambu Handy / Bambu Studio — Bambu's first-party app + cloud; required for some features. Closed source.
  • Creality Cloud / Sonic Pad UI — Creality's stack; mediocre, most Sonic Pad owners replace it with Mainsail.

Pick this if…

  • Default Klipper UI, gorgeous: Mainsail.
  • Default Klipper UI, compact: Fluidd.
  • Stock printer with serial G-code, plugin ecosystem: OctoPrint.
  • Easiest remote access: OctoEverywhere (closed) or Obico (open).
  • Privacy-first remote access: Tailscale or Cloudflare Tunnel.
  • Touchscreen on the printer: KlipperScreen.
